Association Executive Director Doug Mabry has been instrumental in getting the association on its feet and conducting historical research regarding vineyards and wineries in west Georgia and east Alabama. A capable organizer, Mabry gathered around him those interested in seeking a viable sustainable agriculture initiative for Carroll County and the surrounding area by way of the production of wine grapes and their eventual conversion into wine, a wonderful example of value added business practices.
The Association is organized to provide for education in viticulture and enology, the promotion of fruit for the production of value added products with wine as the main focus, and the improvement and development of sustainable agriculture. The ways the Association will assists its members in this focus will include:
A. Extending the Member's knowledge of and interest in growing wine grapes and other related activit¡es,
B. Disseminating information about vineyard and wine making practices and techniques.
C. Providing Seminars to its Members on varying subjects related to enology and viticulture.
D. Organizing and/or hosting field trips to vineyards and wineries.
E. Organizing and/or hosting hands on workshops for its members.
F. Promoting the "end product" by organizing and/or hosting tastings.
G. Providing opportunities for Association members to meet and associate with others who have similar enology and viticulture interests.
